LOT-EK UPCYCLES OBJECTS AS RAW MATERIAL FOR ARCHITECTURELOT-EK SCANS THE ENVIRONMENT IN SEARCH OF MANMADE OBJECTS AND SYSTEMSAda Tolla (b. 1964) and Giuseppe Lignano (b.1963) are founding partners of LOT-EK.
They studied Architecture and Urban Design at the Universita’ di Napoli, Italy, and have completed post-graduate studies at Columbia University, GSAPP. Besides heading her professional practice, they teach at Columbia University’s GSAPP and lecture at major universities and cultural institutions worldwide.
LOT-EK has a chieved visibility for its sustainable and innovative approach to construction, materials and space through the upcycling of existing industrial objects—not originally intended for architecture. LOT-EK is also recognized for addressing mobility and transformability in architecture, and for working across art and architecture.L OT-EK’s new monograph, O+O, Objects + Operations, was released by The Monacelli Pressin 2017. In December 2011, Ada Tolla and Giuseppe Lignano were recognized as USA Booth Fellowsof Architecture & Design by United States Artists (USA).
